Alonso barely leading Schumacher
In the first qualifying session, Schumacher shows a good performance with 3rd place, but because of a big mistake in the 2nd session he has to start from grid position 13. Räikkonen is on pole in front of Alonso and Button.

After the start, the leading drivers keep their positions, but Räikkonen has to retire in lap 10 because of transmission problems and Alonso takes the lead.

Almost unnoticed by all, Michael Schumacher is already on 3rd position before the first pitstop and can even keep that position after stopping.

Schumacher reduces the gap between him and the leading drivers at an enormous pace (about 2 seconds per lap) and is soon behind Button, who he can overtake on the track. During the second pit stops, the positions don't change and Schumacher is soon stuck behind Alonso.

Even though Schumacher is once able to almost pass Alonso between Piratella and Aqua Minerale, Alonso is able to keep him behind him for the last few laps.
