| In the qualifying Schumacher is only on position 2, both Renaults in front of and behind him.
Soon after the start there are a couple of collisions and 4 retirements, Schumacher loses 2 places and is only on 4th position behind both Renaults and Coulthard.
Even worse, Schumacher is overtaken by Räikonnen and Montoya and is temporarily only on the 6th position.
But because Renault does 3 stops instead of 2, they can't hold their lead and fall back. 2 driving mistakes from Alonso end his race and Trulli loses a lot of time in a collision with Montoya, so despite the excellent starting position, no points for Renault this race.
After a very exciting and eventful race Kimi Räikonnen wins in front of Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello. This is even more remarkable because of Kimi's terrible starting position (10th on the grid).
Schumacher scores 2 points more than Barrichello and therfore is fixing his 7th championship title.
