| description | Because of a gust of wind Ward spins and crashes into the barrier. Keller goes to the left, touches the grass, loses control and shots across the track. Keller crashes into Boyd who in turn collides with Vukovich. Vukovich's car flies over the fence and turns over several times, comes to rest 130 meters later and catches fire. Because the fire trucks are stationed in the infield, it takes 20 minutes until the fire is extinguished and Vukovich's body is removed from the wreck.
